“Jāņciems” Dispatch and Data Centre
SIA ThermoWhite Baltic provided high-quality and efficient thermal insulation for the main dispatch and data centre of Latvia’s energy system, the “Jāņciems” centre located at 86 Dārzciema Street in Riga. ThermoWhite insulation technology was used in the construction of this new, modern infrastructure facility, designed to meet stringent contemporary safety and technical requirements.
As part of the project, a new dispatch and data centre was developed, complementing the warehouse and production buildings previously constructed on the site. The project forms part of the broader development and renewal of the area’s infrastructure, adapting it to the modern operational and safety requirements of the energy system.
Before the reconstruction, the production facility at 86 Dārzciema Street comprised approximately 40 different buildings – ranging from equipment repair facilities and an inspection laboratory to transformer oil facilities and specialised vehicle maintenance areas. Most of these buildings were constructed between the 1930s and the 1960s, while the newest structures were built in the 1990s.
Due to the technical deterioration of the buildings, it was considered economically more viable to demolish and replace most of them with new structures, while approximately one-third required significant reconstruction to remain in use.
The use of the ThermoWhite solution is an important part of the technical solution for the new infrastructure, providing high-quality thermal insulation and contributing to the energy efficiency and comfort standards required for modern buildings. The project demonstrates the suitability of the ThermoWhite system for technically complex infrastructure facilities subject to demanding operational requirements.
